WINS $25,000 FROM MAUDE’S AWARDS
MAUDE’S AWARDS RECOGNIZES INNOVATION IN ALZHEIMER’S AND DEMENTIA CARE
SEATTLE, WA – The 3

Annual Maude’s Award recipients were announced on September 16
th
. Three organizations
received $25,000 each and five individuals received $5,000 each.
Maude’s Awards was created to enrich the quality of life for persons living with Alzheimer’s disease and related
dementias and their care partners. It provides monetary awards to organizations and individuals for innovations
excelling in one of the categories of care found here: The Awards – Maude's Awards (maudesawards.org)
The I’m Still Here Foundation (ISH) redefines what it means to live with dementia, replacing the predominant “despair”
narrative with one of “hope.” The I’m Still Here principles promote dignity, engagement, community, and education
and underscore the value of a nonpharmacological approach to dementia care. ISH launched its Innovation Program
in 2018 to provide seed funding for organizations to develop innovative engagement programs for persons living with
dementia and their care partners. Innovation Programs show how persons living with dementia are still loved, still
engaged, and still included in family, life, and community. The founder of I’m Still Here, John Zeisel, is an
internationally known expert in designing dementia-friendly spaces and in dementia care. By educating individuals
and communities, the ISH approach reduces the stigma so often associated with dementia.
Maude’s Awards was created in 2019 by Richard Ferry (Co-Founder of Korn-Ferry International) in honor of his beloved
wife of 65 years. In 2013, Maude was diagnosed with dementia and Richard has continued their loving journey as a
tireless advocate to discover and share innovations that speak to the challenges and needs of persons living with
dementia and their care partners. Maude’s Awards are for achievement and demonstrated success, as opposed to
grants for future programs.
The Cummings Foundation in Woburn, MA, has been a major supporter and funder of the I’m Still Here Foundation
having made two $100,000 grants since 2013.
